Man cycling to work critically injured when struck by taxi in Brakpan

A thirty-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was struck by a taxi on Van Dyk Street in Brakpan, Gauteng.

Reports from the scene indicate that the man was riding his bicycle on his way to work, when he was struck from the back by the taxi.

The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

When Netcare911 paramedics arrived on scene, we found the man to be in a critical condition.

A Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner intubated the man to assist him to breathe.

After stabilising him, Netcare911 paramedics transported the man by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

This accident happened this morning at about 07h30.
