One dead, four injured in Vanderbiljpark collision

One man died and four other people sustained moderate to critical injuries in a collision between an SUV and a light motor vehicle on the R57 (Golden Highway), in Vanderbijlpark, this evening.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found both the vehicles still on the road.

The driver of the light motor vehicle believed to be in his 50’s was found in the car. Upon assessment it was found that he sustained fatal injuries. The female passenger believed to be in her 30’s was trapped in the vehicle. Emfuleni Fire and Rescue extricated her.

Upon assessment by paramedics it was found that she was in a critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, a man believed to be in his 40’s, and a female from the SUV sustained moderate injuries. Another female who was travelling in the same vehicle was in a critical condition.

Both females are believed to be in their 20’s.

The patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
