Three vehicle collision in Vanderbijlpark leaves two dead and two injured

An early morning collision on the R57 Golden Highway in Vanderbijlpark has left two men dead and two other people injured.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene after receiving reports of a multiple vehicle collision.

On inspection, paramedics found that an SUV, light motor vehicle and bakkie had apparently collided head-on and now lay on the side of the road. Debris from the vehicles, including an engine, were spread across the entire scene.

On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying inside the SUV. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.

The driver of the light motor vehicle was also found in his vehicle, his vital signs deteriorating rapidly. Paramedics removed him from the vehicle and began their treatment and initiated CPR.

Unfortunately, after some time, no signs of life returned and the man was declared dead on scene.

Two other patients, a man and woman, were found on scene having sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics treated the patients and transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
