Truck and bakkie collide in Macassar injuring two people

Two people were injured this morning, one of them critically, after a truck and bakkie collided on Macassar Road in Macassar in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, along with Metro services, arrived on scene and found that a truck had collided into the side of a bakkie, which now lay on the side of the road.

On assessment, paramedics found that the driver as well as the passenger of the bakkie had been injured in the collision. The driver had sustained critical injuries while the patient had sustained only minor injuries.

Paramedics began their treatment of the patients and provided the driver with advanced life support treatment.

Once treated, the patients were loaded into an awaiting ER24 ambulance and transported to Helderburg Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the truck fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
