Two men, both in their 30s, were seriously injured this afternoon after their truck crashed into a streetlight and then residence fence on Dame Street in Rand Lease in Roodepoort.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the light delivery van on the sidewalk next to the wall.
On inspection, paramedics found that both male patients were trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was found to be in a critical condition while the passenger was in a serious condition.
ER24 rescue medics had to use specialised rescue equipment to free both men from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided them with advanced life support. After treatment, the patients were transported to Laratong and Discovery Clinic for urgent treatment.
The cause of the collision is subject to the investigation of local authorities.
