16 injured in Taxi crash on the M1 Higginson Highway

Sixteen people have been injured two seriously so after a taxi and a truck collided on the M1 Higginson Highway on top of the N2 Bridge just after 14:20 today.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a taxi and a truck had collided head on. One patient a school child was entrapped in the front seat of the taxi. Fire Fighters used the jaws of life to free her whilst Paramedics stabilised her in the wreckage. Fifteen other patients from both vehicles were also stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

AT this stage the cause of the accident is not yet known however all the authorities were on scene and will be investigating further.
