Two people have been killed and four others injured two seriously so after six vehicles collided on the N2 North Bound before Umgeni Road just after 3pm today.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene and found total carnage. Six vehicles had been involved in a collision on the Freeway bringing the highway to a standstill. Two people had sustained multiple injuries and although paramedics worked to try and save them they unfortunately passed away on the scene. Four other people had been injured with two sustaining serious injuries. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise them on scene before transporting them to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
Traffic was severely affected and Emergency personal battled to get to scene due to the emergency lane being blocked by motorists. The entire freeway was initially closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
