Three security officers have been shot and wounded during an attempted cash-in-transit-heist on the N4 near the Brits off-ramp in the North West.
Reports from the scene indicate that a group of robbers shot at the security vehicle multiple times.
The exact detail to the incident will form part of a SAPS investigation.
Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside the Hartebeespoort Emergency Rescue Unit to stabilise the wounded on scene.
Two of the officers were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The Netcare2 helicopter was dispatched to the scene to airlift one of the critically wounded officers to a trauma1 facility in Johannesburg for further medical care.
