A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured late this evening after he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle at the Barbara and Diesel Road intersection in Isando, Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 20h00 this evening and found a man lying in the middle of the road.
It is understood that the man had been walking across the road on his way home when he was hit by the vehicle.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained serious injuries to his head and back, leaving him in a critical condition.
Paramedics began their treatment and initiaded advanced life support intervention.
Once treated, the patient was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment.
The driver of the vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
