Taxi collision leaves 3 dead, several more injured, Randburg

It is believed that three people have been killed and roughly 20 others injured this morning after two taxis collided head-on on the R114 in Randburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found two mangled taxis on scene. One of the taxis lay on its side while the other was found upright on the side of the road.

A number of the occupants were found spread across the scene after they were apparently ejected from one of the vehicles.

Paramedics immediately set up a triage area and began to assess the scene.

It was discovered that three men had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries on the scene. Unfortunately nothing could be done for these patients and they were declared dead on the scene.

At least 5 other patients were found on scene in a critical condition. Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions.

Two critical patients were later airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

At least 15 other patients were found on scene with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Paramedics treated the patients and transported them to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.

The exact number of patients is unknown due to numerous services found on the scene.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
