Three injured in head-on collision, Diepsloot

Three men were left injured this afternoon after a head-on collision between a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the R511 near the R114 in Diepsloot.

ER24 paramedics, arrived on the scene and found that both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision. Each vehicle was found lying on the opposite side of the road.

On closer inspection, paramedics discovered one men lying in the light motor vehicle while another man lay inside the bakkie. Both men were found to be in a critical condition.

A third man was found seated next to the light motor vehicle, having sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics, along with fire services, carefully extricated the two men from the vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics treated all the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions.

One critically injured patient was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital while the two remaining patients were transported by ambulance.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
