Two injured in collision at intersection in Ladysmith

Two woman were injured this morning, one seriously, after a light motor vehicle and bakkie collided at the Harrismith and Soldiers Way intersection in Ladysmith, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, arrived on the scene and found both vehicles on the side of the road. The bakkie was found lying on its side up against a tree.

On inspection, paramedics found two women seated in the front of the vehicle. The passenger, believed to be in her 30s, was assessed and found to be in a critical condition. The second woman, believed to be in her 50s, was found to have sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics carefully extricated both patients from the vehicles and began their treatment, providing the critically injured patient with advanced life support.

Once treated, both patients were transported to Ladysmith Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the bakkie was apparently not found on the scene.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
