Eight people have been seriously injured after the vehicle they were in lost control and rolled several times on the N2 near Chesterville just after 08:30am today.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the single vehicle had rolled several times ejecting the passengers all over the busy freeway. Paramedics immediately called for me ambulances to assist and assessed the scene. The driver was entrapped in the wreckage and paramedics together with fire fighters worked to free the man. Seven other passengers were found to have various injuries ranging from minor to critical. Once all of the injured had been stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the accident however the necessary authorities were on scene and will be investigating further.
