Teenager injured when hit by bus on Main Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg.

A child, believed to be 17-years-old, was left critically injured this morning after she was hit by a bus on Main Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg.

It is understood that an off-duty paramedic had been travelling to work when she noticed the child lying in the road. She then proceeded to flag down a passing ER24 ambulance.

On arrival, paramedics found that the child had sustained serious injuries, leaving her in a critical condition.

Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the patient with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patient was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
