Two men shot in alleged hijacking incident in Pietermaritzburg

A 22-year-old man sustained a serious gunshot wound to his chest late last night in Pietermaritzburg.

Shortly after 11pm paramedics from ER24 arrived on Bulwer street in Pietermaritzburg where they found the 22-year-old in the middle of the road. Upon assessment paramedics found that he sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. Fortunately, he was wake and still orientated.

Another person was found on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to his hand. He was in a stable condition.

The pair indicated to paramedics that they were allegedly hijacked and shot. They were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

Local authorities attended the scene and will investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
