Man killed as grader rolls down embankment in eTafuleni, PMB

A 45-year-old man was killed this afternoon when his grader overturned and rolled down a steep embankment in eTafuleni, Pietermaritzburg.

At approximately 1.40pm paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where community members showed them the overturned grader a few hundred meters down the embankment. Paramedics had no way getting to the scene with the ambulance and took several pieces of equipment with them as they made their way down the embankment.

When they reached the scene, they found the man succumbed to his injuries. Due to the extensive injuries he had sustained, there was nothing that they could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

It is believed that the man fell out of the grader when it rolled down the embankment and it rolled over him.

According to bystanders on the scene, believed to be co-workers, he lost control while traveling on a steep road near the embankment. The police were called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
