14 people were injured this afternoon after a taxi rear-ended a light motor vehicle on the N1 northbound near the Allendale turnoff in Midrand.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the taxi lying on its roof in the emergency lane, while the second vehicle was found in the fast lane.
Occupants from the taxi were found walking around on the side of the road while two occupants were found seated in the light motor vehicle.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that 14 people in total had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The patients were treated for their injuries and the seriously injured patients provided with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals and facilities in the area for further treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
