Three injured after bakkie rolled in Macassar

Three people were injured this afternoon when a bakkie rolled on the N2 Baden Powell Road in Macassar in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the bakkie lying on its roof in the centre island. One man was found lying trapped inside the bakkie while another man and woman were found seated next to their vehicle.

Rescue services used specialised tools to free the one man from the vehicle, an operation lasting only a few minutes.

Once freed, paramedics found that all three patients had sustained moderate injuries in the collision.

The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Helderberg Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and eject the woman who had been seated on the back of the vehicle.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
