1 killed and 4 injured after car swerved and rolled to avoid oncoming vehicle

One man has been killed and four others injured this afternoon after their light motor vehicle rolled on the Graceland Road in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle lying on its roof in the middle of the road. The body of one man was found lying a few feet away from the vehicle while four others were found walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the man lying near the vehicle and found that he showed no signs of life. Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated to return the patients vital signs. Unfortunately, after some time, no signs of life returned and the man was declared dead on the scene.

The four other patients on scene were assessed and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries. The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Evander Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver of the light motor vehicle swerved to avoid another vehicle that had apparently overtaken a truck.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
