3 people, including disabled teenager dies after bakkie & minibus taxi collides, Bronkhorstspruit Gauteng

Two people including a disabled teenager have died after a bakkie collided with a minibus taxi that was transporting disabled children from home to their  special needs school.

This accident happened on the R25 in Bronkhorstspruit in Gauteng.

Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside paramedics from the Provincial EMS on scene.

Reports from the scene indicate that twenty four children have been injured.

Two of the disabled children are in a critical condition, the rest sustained moderate to minor injuries.

The Netcare1 helicopter has airlifted one of the disabled children to a hospital in Johannesburg for further medical care.

The rest of the injured children were stabilised on scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

The driver of the bakkie (man) and one of the disabled children(girl) was declared dead at the scene.

This accident happened this morning at about 08h30.
