8 people injured, 1 in critical condition, after vehicle t-boned taxi, JHB

Eight people were injured this morning, one critically, after a light motor vehicle t-boned a taxi at the R55 and N14 Road intersection in Olievenhoutbosch, north of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found both wrecked vehicles on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.

On assessment, paramedics found that eight people had been injured in the collision, one critically. One of the patients was also found lying trapped inside the taxi.

Rescue services had to use specialised rescue tools in order to free the patient from the vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the patients were transported to various provincial hospitals for urgent treatment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations
