Man hit-and-killed by dump truck in Devland

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed this afternoon after he was hit by a dump truck on a refuse site off East Street in Devland, south of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, arrived on the scene and found the body of the man lying beneath the rear of the truck.

Paramedics removed the man from beneath the vehicle and immediately assessed him. Assessment showed that the man had sustained numerous injuries, including a fatal injury to his head.

Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done and he was declared dead on the scene.

It is believed that the driver of the truck failed to notice the man standing near the truck.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
