Potchefstroom woman seriously injured after car crashes into pillar

A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was left seriously injured this afternoon when her light motor vehicle crashed into a concrete pillar on the N12, roughly 25km outside of Potchefstroom.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the vehicle crushed against a concrete pillar next to the highway. The woman, and only occupant, was found lying trapped in a serious condition.

Rescue services used specialised rescue equipment to free the woman from her vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions.

Once the woman was in a stable condition, paramedics transported her to Tshepong Hospital for urgent care.

The cause of the collision is not yet known.
