A woman was left seriously injured this morning after two vehicles collided at the M1 and Woodmead Drive intersection in Woodmead, Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found one light motor vehicle in the middle of the intersection while the second was found on the side of the road against a tree.
On inspection, paramedics found the driver of the first vehicle, a woman, seated in her vehicle while the occupants of the second vehicle were found walking around on the scene.
On assessment, paramedics found that the woman had sustained serious injuries while a man from the second vehicle had sustained only minor injuries.
Paramedics treated both patients and provided the seriously injured woman with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
