A homeowner and domestic tied up in a house robbery Umhlanga Rocks

A homeowner and his domestic worker were tied up by armed assailants in a house robbery in Umhlanga Rocks earlier today.

Marshall Security was alerted to a house robbery which had occurred on Ridge Road in Umhlanga Rocks shortly before 2PM on Thursday.

Armed Reaction officers were immediately dispatched and on further investigation, it was ascertained that a three male suspects armed with pistols forced entry onto the property by damaging a boundary wall. The homeowner and his domestic worker who were home at the time were tied up and confined to a bedroom whilst the suspects ransacked the premises, making off with various high-end electronic equipment, including laptop computers and cellular phones, before fleeing in an unknown direction.

An extensive search of the surrounding area was conducted however the suspects remain at large.

The homeowner and domestic worker were left severely traumatised by the ordeal and the assistance of the Durban North Umhlanga Crisis Team was sought to counsel them.

The scene was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation.
