A serious collision in Brixton

Yesterday morning EMER-G-MED’s RV5, M01, M08 and A11 responded to reports of a serious collision on the corner of Collins and Guildford Roads, in Brixton.

It’s alleged that the car swerved off the road, colliding with a pedestrian and a pole, in order to avoid a collision with a second car – which was alleged to have skipped the stop street.

On arrival paramedics found the critically injured driver still seated in the vehicle, having sustained massive head and chest trauma.

Paramedics worked effortlessly in an attempt to stabilise him, unfortunately he further deteriorated and went into cardiac arrest. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, the driver was later declared dead on the scene.

The pedestrian, who had been walking on the pavement, sustained multiple fractures and was stabilised by Advanced Life Support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

JMPD’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit were on the scene to determine the exact events leading up to the horrific crash.
