Bakkie rear-ends taxi injuring 13 in Edendale, KwaZulu Natal

13 people were injured this afternoon after a bakkie rear-ended a taxi on Edendale Road in Edendale, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 13h00.

Upon arrival, paramedics found the bakkie in the right lane of the road while the taxi was found in the left lane of the road. Twelve of the occupants from the taxi had already climbed out of the vehicle and were now seated on the grass embankment. An elderly woman was found still seated inside of the taxi.

Paramedics assessed the patients on scene and found that 12 had sustained minor injuries. The elderley woman was found to have sustained moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Northdale and Edendale Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
