A boy was killed this afternoon when he was hit by a truck on Old Sir Lowreys Pass in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with the local authorities, arrived on the scene and found the truck parked on the middle of the road. The driver of the truck was found walking around on the scene.
On further assessment, paramedics found the body of the little boy lying motionless underneath the truck.
Unfortunately, the child had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on scene.
Witnesses on scene stated that the child had apparently run across the road without noticing the oncoming truck.
Traffic was heavily affected due to to the collision.
Local authorities will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision .
