EMER-G-MED provided expert medical support for the 2016 annual Gauteng Toyrun.

The Toyrun was originally started by a group of bikers in 1982 and since then has collected and distributed in excess of 400,000 toys to under privileged children in various communities.

This year was the 34th Annual Toyrun, collecting toys for 56 different children’s charities within South Africa.

This year, with upwards of 20000 bikers taking part, the run started at five different points:
Irene Village Mall, The Blockhouse Garage, Carnival City, Silverstar Casino – and for the ladies: Montecasino.

The run took the riders on various routes through Gauteng, ending at the end venue: The Benoni Northern Sports Grounds, on Brodigan Street in Northmead – Benoni, where bikers (anr the public) had to donate a toy (or more) to enter and enjoy live music, food and drinks.

Paramedics treated patients for very minor injuries and illnesses with none requiring hospitalisation.

A great day was had by all for this worthy cause. If you didn’t take part this year – lookout for information on next year’s annual Toyrun!
