Pedestrian collision on 10th and John Brandt, Alexandra Township.

Yesterday afternoon just after 3pm EMER-G-MED’s RV6 and M06 were dispatched to reports of a pedestrian collision on 10th and John Brandt, in Alexandra Township.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the South African Police Services had been chasing a suspected stolen BMW, when the driver lost control and spun out – colliding with two other vehicles before going onto the pavement and colliding with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a pregnant woman, sustained a very serious injury to one of her lower limbs and required Advanced Life Support intervention.

The patient was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby trauma centre under by City of Joburg EMS under the care of an Emer-G-Med Advanced Life Support paramedic.

The suspects managed to flee the scene. The South African Police Services were on the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
