In the early hours of Sunday morning one person was killed and another critically injured after a driver lost control of his vehicle, driving off the highway and into a concrete pillar on the M1 North after Woodmead, north of Johannesburg.
Just after 3am on Sunday morning EMER-G-MED’s RV6, M06 and A01 were dispatched to the emergency call.
They arrived to find that one person had sustained multiple fatal injuries, declaring the patient dead on the scene. The second patient had multiple suspected internal injuries and was in a critical condition, requiring rapid Advanced Life Support intervention.
Once stabilised the patient was rushed to Netcare Sunninghill Hospital for immediate surgical care.
JMPD’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit was at the scene to conduct a formal investigation.
