Eight people, including three children, sustained various injuries in a collision involving two taxis and a Toyota Condor on the N4 between Vandyksdrift and Bethal off ramps in Middelburg.
At approximately 1.30am this morning, paramedics from ER24 Middelburg and local emergency services arrived on the scene where they found the Toyota Condor lying on its side in the middle of the road. Two taxis were found a few meters away from the scene. Both had minor damage.
Paramedics found two children aged four and twelve in a critical condition. A six-year-old child sustained moderate injuries. Five adults sustained various injuries. All the occupants were found outside of the vehicle. It is understood that they climbed out of the overturned vehicle prior to paramedics’ arrival on scene.
The injured occupants were rushed to Middelburg Provincial Hospital for further care.
No one was injured in the two taxis.
