After a hijacking video went viral on social media SAPS to ensure hijackers are arrested, Durban

KwaZulu-Natal: After a hijacking video went viral on social media, viewers on Facebook watched a 42-year-old Crossmoor resident fear for her life when she was approached by hijackers in a grey Toyota Yaris, right outside her garage.

The victim was parked outside her home in Chatsworth on Monday, 16 January 2017, when she was approached by an armed hijacker who pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered her to get out of her Hyundai i10.

The CCTV footage which was recorded from a neighbour’s camera was later released on social media. A case of hijacking has been opened at Chatsworth SAPS and the Chatsworth SAPS will be investigating the case.

Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, Major General Nunkumar stated that members of the Chatsworth SAPS will work around the clock to ensure that the hijackers are apprehended. “We will be having a zero tolerance approach to all hijackers within the Ethekwini Inner South area,” he said.
