Three incidents on M13 Pinetown, one fatal

A pedestrian believed to be in his forties was killed on the M13 near the St Johns bridge this evening. Approximately the same time, a cash-in-transit vehicle overturned about a kilometre from the scene.

ER24 paramedics attended the scene at 6:21pm where they found the man’s lifeless body lying in the middle of the road. He sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing that they could do for him. He was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the vehicle that collided with the pedestrian was assessed on scene and found with no physical injuries.

A second crew from ER24 attended to a cash-in-transit vehicle that overturned approximately a kilometre further down the road. Two men were found with moderate injuries. When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found both men still inside the overturned vehicle. They were assessed and treated on scene by paramedics and later transported to Hillcrest Private hospital. At this stage, it is not clear what the cause for the incident is.

A third incident on the same stretch of road, saw a light motor vehicle engulfed in flames. No one sustained any injuries in this incident. The cause for the fire is not yet known.

Local authorities attended the scenes.
