A man sustained moderate injuries when he was assaulted during a robbery at a bank in KwaMnyandu, Umlazi Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 4.30pm, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the man with facial injuries. He explained to paramedics that he was assaulted by one of the suspects. Paramedics treated him for his injuries and later transported him to hospital.
A bystander explained that a security guard from the mall was shot in the chest during the ordeal. He was rushed to hospital before paramedics arrived on the scene. Paramedics later went through to the hospital and found the security guard in a serious condition being attended to by emergency care workers.
Police attended the scene and will investigate.
