Bakkie Overturns While Towing Vehicle on the R102, Verulam

Two people were injured after the bakkie they were travelling in overturned on the R102 near the Canelands robots in Verulam a short while ago.

At approximately 12:57 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from passing motorists reporting the accident. Upon arrival two occupants of a Nissan bakkie were found to have sustained moderate injuries. They were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

It is alleged that the Nissan bakkie was towing a Hyundai Atos when the driver of the bakkie lost control of his vehicle. The bakkie then overturned and was lying on its side trapping the driver and his passenger inside. Onlookers consisting of pedestrians and passing motorists pushed the bakkie back onto its wheels and removed both occupants from the vehicle.

The driver of the Hyundai Atos that was being towed was not injured.
