Biker left critical after collision north of Johannesburg

A man, believed to be in his 50s, was left seriously injured this morning when he was knocked off his motorbike by a light motor vehicle at the Watermeyer and N4 Road intersection in Vilgers, north of Johannesburg.

At approximately 11h00, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find both the motorbike and light motor on the side of the road against the barriers.

The body of the biker was found roughly 15 metres away.

Paramedics assessed the biker and found that he was seriously injured, having sustained serious injuries to his pelvis.

The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. The patient was thereafter transported to a private hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle was assessed and found to have sustained only minor injuries. The man later declined treatment and transportation to hospital.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
