Hijacking suspects arrested after car chase and collision into tow truck

Yesterday a navy blue Toyota Avanza was hijacked at Empilweni Clinic in Buffalo Flats area by three armed suspects.

The vehicle was circulated by radio control and while travelling along Settlersway East London K9 Unit, King William’s Town K9 Unit and East London Flying Squad pursued the vehicle. The suspects lost control of the vehicle and collided with a towtruck.

Three male suspects between the ages of 32 and 36 were arrested. Two of the suspects were identified as those who escaped from Zwelitsha.

One 9mm Norinco pistol and R5 ammunition rounds were recovered. A case of Hijacking and Possession of unlicenced firearm and ammunition has been opened.
