A 56-year-old man was left critical and a 3-year-old girl was injured after they were attacked by dogs in Athlone, Cape Town this evening.
It is believed that the man and the girl were in their backyard when two dogs jumped over the wall.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene the girl, who sustained minor injuries, was already transported to Red Cross hospital by a family member.
Paramedics found the man still conscious but lying on the ground.
It is believed that the man had tried to protect the girl when he was mauled by the dogs. He sustained multiple injuries.
ER24 transported the man to Vincent Pallotti hospital.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
