Northern Cape: Vigilant policing puts three hi-jackers behind bars

Police vigilance yielded success when men in blue discovered a white vehicle and truck on the Griekwastad Road near Kimberley. On 28, June 2017 at approximately 23:00, police came to the rescue of two men who were allegedly hi-jacked by seven unknown men while traveling in a meat truck near Kimberley en-route to Upington.

The police stopped and searched the suspicious looking vehicle while the meat truck took a turn back to Kimberley with four of the seven suspects. Police found the driver and his passenger allegedly being held hostage by the men at gunpoint. It was later discovered that the firearm was a toy pistol. The truck was later found abandoned with the meat cargo in a veld near Riviera in Kimberley. The four suspects are still at large. It was also discovered that one of the suspects is a police officer at a local police station in the Northern Cape. The suspects are between the ages of 26 and 31 and should be appearing in the Kimberley Magistrates Court soon.
