Update on Cash in Transit Robbery: Lebowakgomo

Limpopo: A fifth firearm that is suspected to have been used by robbers was recovered this morning by community members fetching water under the bridge. The police were called and the said firearm was found on the ground. It is suspected it was thrown by the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, the seven suspects that were arrested yesterday, will appear in Lebowakgomo magistrate court tomorrow, 13 July 2017. The suspects, aged between 27 and 52, are facing charges of robbing the G5S security company of an undisclosed amount of money. The eighth suspect was fatally wounded in a shootout with police after a car chase that took the direction of Apel.

The suspects will be charged with armed robbery, possession of stolen motor vehicles and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
