A 6-year-old boy was left critically injured this afternoon when he was knocked over by an SUV outside his school on Van Riebeeck Street in Vereeniging.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 14h25.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the child lying on the side of the road, several bystanders surrounding him.
Paramedics assessed the boy and found that he had sustained several injuries, leaving him seriously injured.
The boy was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for urgent treatment.
The driver of the SUV escaped injury.
Authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
