A total of 35 patients have been transported to Mediclinic George and George Provincial Hospital following truck crash

[SHONGWENI] - Three-vehicle collision leaves man seriously injured

35 people were left injured this evening when a truck carrying farm workers overturned on the Geelhoutboom Road outside of George in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, along with Metro and Fire Services, received the emergency call at 18h44 and immediately responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a large truck lying at the bottom of an embankment on its side. The workers that had been on the back of the truck were found lying all around the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that 35 of the 80 on scene had been injured. Assessments showed that their injuries ranged from minor to serious.

The patients were treated for their injuries and were later transported to Mediclinic George and George Provincial Hospital for further care.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further care.
