Head-on collision near Olifantshoek leaves one dead and three injured

A man was killed and three others seriously injured this morning following a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles on the N14 Olifantshoek in the Northern Cape.

ER24 paramedics from Kathu and Upington immediately responded to the scene at approximately 08h00.

Upon arrival, paramedics found the two light motor vehicles on the side of the road.

When paramedics inspected the vehicles, they found the body of a man lying trapped inside one of the light motor vehicles. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

Three other patients, two women and a man, were found to have sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
