One person was killed and another sustained serious injury after two shipping containers fell on top of the vehicle they were travelling in on Rotterdam road in Bayhead in Durban this morning.
When ER24 arrived on scene at approximately 10H59, they found a vehicle underneath two containers. Upon further assessment, they found two patients, both males, trapped inside the vehicle.
Both patients had to be extricated with the jaws of life. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the one patient and he was declared dead on the scene by another medical service. The other patient was transported to a hospital by another medical service on scene.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities will be investigating the matter.
