19 people have been injured after a bakkie and taxi collided in Hillcrest

Nineteen people sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious after a bakkie and a taxi collided on the N3 in Hillcrest this evening.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 17H45, most of the patients were found seated next to the freeway.

Upon further assessment, it was found that 19 patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. One patient was entrapped in the taxi and the jaws of life were used to extricate the patient.

The freeway was also closed for traffic and the traffic was quite backed up.

ER24, as well as various other medical services on the scene, transported the patients to a hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
