Shashi Naidoo and Zoe Brown take to the track on Speed Stars

Our next celebrity pairing feel right at home in front of the cameras and under the bright lights, but will Shashi Naidoo and Zoe Brown feel as comfortable when they get behind the wheel and the lights go out on Speed Stars?

Shashi Naidoo has literally done it all in the entertainment industry! Acting, Modeling, Presenting, Emcee – her CV is seriously impressive but so too is the fact that she also has a degree in chiropractic medicine and her own modeling agency, Alushi Management – talk about driven. But it’s time to let her driving do the talking on Speed Stars.

She may claim to be an ordinary girl but with her own radio show on KFM and a host on the popular ‘Feel Good Breakfast Show’ Espresso on SABC 3, Zoe Brown is nothing but extraordinary! What’s more, she also has a Degree in International Relations majoring in Politics – did I hear someone say VOTE ZOE?

So who will dazzle on track and present the best lap time when they go head to head? Catch Shashi and Zoe in action on Speed Stars on Ignition, DSTV 189 at the following times:

RYANKANKOWSKI’S OFF COSTS HIM TOP SPOT ON THE SPEED STARS LEADERBOARD

The Number 8 was quietly confident as he went up against SA Cricket Captain Dane’ van Niekerk in last weeks celebrity pairing and he followed through with an impressive performance to take the win. His two-lap time around Zwartkops was the fastest of the season so he was suitably disappointed that his fastest lap time of a

1:26.02 was only good for third position on the leaderboard. By his own accounts he was probably trying too hard and things got a little messy with a big off up at Turn 5 possibly costing him the top spot. Funnily enough he ends up behind Lions teammate Kwagga Smith, who you may recall found himself in the exact same situation – a massive moment tripping him up just before the line.

For someone who views driving simply as a way of getting from A to B, Dane’ van Niekerk surprised herself when she ended up the fastest female on the show. Her lap time of 1:32.40 sees her slotting into eighth position and in with a shout of making the finals. But with 6 stars still to come and our public lap times still to be revealed, does she have enough ‘runs’ on the board?

The leaderboard as it currently stands after five episodes:

  1. Rob Forbes                              1:25.30
  2. Kwagga Smith                        1:25.62
  3. Ryan Kankowski                    1:26.02
  4. Joey Rasdien                          1:27.25
  5. Richelieu Beaunoir                  1:29.54
  6. Jason Goliath                           1:30.33
  7. Justin Geduld                         1:30.46
  8. Dane’ van Niekerk                   1:32.40
  9. Elma Smit                               1:32.95
  10. Julia Stuart                               1:34.19

And don’t forget that our two public contestants, Jason Absmeier and Louis Pires have already posted their lap times, but we will only be revealing these at the end of the season – what impact will that have on our top eight who’ll contest the final?

Congratulations to our winner of our Predict the Winner Competition, Arthur Kambambo, who correctly predicted that Ryan Kankowski would win this match up. He has won an Advanced Driving Course from VW Driving Academy valued at R3000.
