Stellenbosch truck crashes into car killing elderly woman

A woman, believed to be in her 70s, was killed this morning when a truck crashed
into her light motor vehicle at the R44 and Anandale Road intersection in
Stellenbosch in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, along with the Metro and Fire Services, arrived on the scene to
find the light motor vehicle lying on its side against the traffic light. The body
of an elderly woman was found lying partially beneath the overturned vehicle.

Paramedics quickly assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous
injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for her
and she was declared dead.

The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
