Early morning collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway.

Shortly after 7am, emergency services arrived on the scene of a horrific motor vehicle collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway.

Reports from the scene indicate that a single light motor vehicle careened over the centre median, colliding head on with a fully laden minibus taxi.

Thirteen people suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical, with five people entrapped in the wreckage. The Jaws of life were used to cut them free.

Once treated and stabilized on scene the injured were taken by various ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care.

The M4 north bound remained closed for over an hour whilst emergency services worked to clear the scene.
