Northern Cape: Annual Gun Run brings safety awareness

Kimberley: The SANDF, SAPS, Department of Arts and Culture, Correctional Services and local community teams participated in this years’ Gun run.

Over 300 participants with twenty teams from cities from across South Africa took part. Together with the competition the SAPS Men for Change led men in taking a pledge to protect, love and cherish women and children especially during the Festive season and beyond. The day also comprised of an awareness campaign spearheaded by the SAPS Men for Change and Women’s Network in partnership of The Flamingo Casino, Metropolitan, Avbob, Nedbank, the community who also marched against domestic violence.

The various role players marched through the Kimberley CBD and distributed thousands of safety pamphlets at taxi ranks and shopping centers in town. This annual initiative also contributes to the #SaferFestiveSeason activities, #16DaysofActivism for No Violence against women and children as well as HIV awareness.
